First Set
DJ course for beginners
With Violetta (MEAT Market)
The course starts from zero. You stand at real club gear, in a small group, and work your way in at your own pace.
Violetta doesn't show you how to build her sets, but how to build yours: understanding the gear, finding your first clean transition, picking tracks that belong together. At the end you play your first set. Short, but entirely yours.

What you'll learn
Getting to know the gear: players, mixer, headphones
Beatmatching and transitions nobody notices
Choosing tracks and putting them in an order
Playing your first own set
By the end of the course
Your first set, chosen by you and played by you
Confidence with the players, the mixer and the headphones
An ear for which tracks belong together
The nerve to step up to the gear again, without a course
Who this course is for
For anyone who has never stood behind the decks. No prior knowledge needed, and no equipment of your own.
What to bring
Your music on a USB stick, ideally as WAV or AIFF files. MP3 works too, but it isn't the standard for professional sets. Headphones if you have some, otherwise there are some here.

Violetta
Violetta builds her sets out of groove and pull: hypnotic loops that tighten slowly, often across three decks at once and often back to back with others. As a resident at MEAT Market she is behind the gear regularly, and beyond that at Grelle Forelle, Postgarage, ÆDEN Berlin and Lighthouse Festival. What she passes on in the course comes straight out of those nights.
